It happened to be a scorpion caught in a spider web. How sweet! The little 12 year old boy within me came to life. Mind you spiders and scorpions creep me out but at the same time there is something amazing about these creepy creatures. So I got really close and tried to mess with it a little but to no avail, it had already succumbed to the spiders poison. So I got a few pictures but of poor quality. I let him hang there for a bout a week and decided it was probably time to clean him up and get rid of the spider too. I got some bug spray and took care of the spider and then cleaned up the corps. I then decided to take care of some laundry that was laying on the floor. To my surprise I found another friend under the sheets this time he was a little more feisty.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_wOnaST5Uc4Q/RxESIBhmOeI/AAAAAAAAAB0/QofXM8T9NoQ/s1600-h/IMG_3392.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_wOnaST5Uc4Q/RxESIBhmOeI/AAAAAAAAAB0/QofXM8T9NoQ/s320/IMG_3392.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5120894180354570722" border="0" /></a><br />So Pete and I poked him with a broom handle a few times (I think Pete still has some little boy in him too, even though he is an old man). We then took the same bug spray and put an end to this little creature as well. In hind sight I wish I had not offed our ally, the spider in true exterminator style. The spider my have proved helpful in future invasions.<br /><br />One last thought on the whole ordeal... I thought scorpions lived in deserts and Texas not on the Adriatic. What kind of place am I living in? My team and I have had the last two weeks to settle in, apply for work visas, meet a few students, and travel to Zagreb (for a national staff conference).
